Pantry Shelf in Hazard nears completion of solar panel set up
HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) – The downtown Hazard pantry market is nearing completion of its solar panel installation.
Owner Susan Brotherton said she saw an opportunity to advance her business through the implementation of solar panels.
“Any opportunity to save money and improve my business is a huge asset in this economy we are in,” said Brotherton.
Mountain Association solar energy expert Joshua Bills says that with electricity prices rising, investing in solar energy could be the smart move.
“Energy prices are not rising as fast as they have been up to now, but they are still rising, especially for electricity,” said Bills. “This is a long-term investment.”
Brotherton is the first company in Hazard to do this and hopes more companies across the county will follow suit.
“It was very exciting for me to be the first company in Hazard,” said Brotherton. “Now we’re still downtown, (and) I can survive as a small business owner in downtown Hazard.”
According to Bills, there is no better time to do this than now if you want to switch to solar panels.
“I think if there is an interest I would suggest looking into it pretty quickly,” said Bills.
