Sunnova expands residential solar + storage lease program to 9 extra states
Sunnova Energy International has expanded its leasing service offering for solar and storage systems to nine new markets. Homeowners in Illinois, Maryland, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Florida, New York, and Rhode Island now have the flexibility to choose between a new lease or existing loan offer when they choose a solar and storage system to power their own House decide. In addition, 22 new states will now have access to Enphase batteries through the Sunnova loan program.
“We are here to ensure that our customers have access to energy services and financing options that make the most sense for their particular situation and that ultimately help them achieve energy independence,” said Michael Grasso, Chief Marketing and Growth Officer at Sunnova. “We also want to enable local Sunnova dealers to help families find the best power options for their individual needs, and these additions will help us achieve that goal.”
Sunnova expects the demand for resilient home energy to increase as the markets enter the hurricane and forest fire season. In 2020, Sunnova’s dealers installed three times as many battery systems as in 2019 and more than twice as many as in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
“Sunnova’s goal is to consistently anticipate the needs of our customers and to diversify and renew our offerings accordingly,” said Grasso.
This lease extension offers customers:
- Balanced billing where you pay a flat, predictable monthly rate based on device cost.
- Competitive pricing without having to apply for federal and state incentives and discounts.
- Insurance coverage with Sunnova – at no additional cost.
- 25-year energy guarantee from Sunnova Protect with the option of balanced billing.
Batteries are essential to store the excess energy of a solar system and provide this stored energy during a power failure. The system’s software automatically manages the battery system if the central power grid fails and supplies the most important devices in the customer’s household with emergency power. Decentralized and decarbonized solar and storage solutions not only provide homeowners resilience, but can also help homeowners cut their utility bills while helping states meet their clean energy goals.
With the Enphase battery upgrade, customers with an existing solar system can add energy storage to their home. The retrofitting takes the form of a new loan offer with 25-year coverage with Sunnova Protect, which also includes monitoring system production, repairs and replacements.
