SMA, GRID Alternate options Companion to Develop Equitable Renewable Entry
SMA America, a company specializing in photovoltaic system technology, claims to be a national equipment supplier for GRID Alternatives, the largest non-profit solar installer in the country.
The partnership will build on the organizations’ shared goals to expand access to clean energy technologies in communities in the United States. SMA will make donations in kind for devices and train installers. The organizations plan to work together in the future to improve access to renewable energy for low-income and colored communities.
“The equipment donations are accelerating the transition to clean energy in the US and internationally,” said Charles Ellis, vice president of sales at SMA America. “This will translate into financial and environmental benefits for communities that need it most.”
The mission of GRID Alternatives is to develop community-based solutions to advance economic and environmental justice through renewable energies. The support from SMA will help GRID Alternatives to achieve the goal of 2021 of supplying low-income and colorful communities with more than 10 MW of clean energy and at the same time training 1,000 people in solar systems. SMA America will also provide training resources for the Solar Academy to ensure that installers are fully informed about how best to use the solutions.
