Redwire, a new leader in mission-critical space solutions and highly reliable components for the next-generation space economy, announced today that it has acquired Deployable Space Systems, Inc. (DSS), a leading provider of mission-capable, deployable solar systems, structures, and structures Mechanisms for space applications. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

DSS was founded in 2008 and is headquartered in Goleta, California. The company is the leading developer and supplier of satellite mechanisms, deployable structures and booms, and deployable solar array systems for the global space market. The company’s key products include deployable solar array systems, deployable structural and mechanical systems, and supporting subsystems. These include the award-winning and patented roll-out solar array that NASA will use to upgrade the International Space Station’s solar arrays later this year. In collaboration with its customers, DSS designs, analyzes, creates, tests and delivers the latest deployable technologies and innovative products that are implemented in the Department of Defense, NASA and in commercial programs.
DSS is the seventh acquisition by Redwire. Redwire has built an innovative portfolio of functions for space infrastructure through the strategic acquisitions of Adcole Space, Deep Space Systems, Made In Space, Roccor, LoadPath and Oakman Aerospace. Redwire was founded in June 2020 by AE Industrial Partners, LP (AEI), a private equity firm specializing in the aerospace, defense, aerospace and government services, power generation and specialty industries markets.
