Trimark chosen to deal with SCADA operations for world’s largest solar + storage undertaking
Trimark Associates announced that it has been selected to operate SCADA on the Edwards & Sanborn project, the world’s largest Solar + storage project currently under construction. The completed project in Kern County, California includes 1,118 MW solar and 2,165 MWh energy storage.
The project is owned by Terra-Gen, while Mortenson Construction is the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for both solar and storage. Terra-Gen and Mortenson selected Trimark as subcontractors for the SCADA portion of the project, which also includes weather stations, network equipment and a DLC (Dynamic Loss Compensation) system to meet the requirements of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Trimark will also provide complex metering equipment, including CAISO-compliant sales meters (under a separate contract with Electrical Consultants Inc.).
Edwards & Sanborn is the latest in a long line of utility-scale PV + BESS SCADA installations supported by Trimark. It’s a daunting undertaking, but Trimark’s talents are perfect for it.
“We are very proud that Terra-Gen has placed its trust in Trimark to provide our expertise and capabilities to control and monitor Edwards-Sanborn, the largest project of its kind in the world. Terra-Gen has relied on Trimark for the past 20 years and can count on our team to lead them to success for the next 20 years, ”said Mark Morosky, President and CEO of Trimark.
The design phase is already under way. The installation is planned for the beginning of June. The process will be a long one, more so than most: construction of the site only started this month and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2022.
